We grind and grind and grind it away.

We take the softness and we grind it away.

We take the tenderness and we just grind it away.

We grind away a whole region of untapped potential, a world of expression and exploration and freedom.

We grind the freedom away.

Our brothers, our fathers, our friends, may not present the feminine. We take their femininity and we grind it away.

Femininity is not a sin, or shameful, or weak, or silly, or hysterical, or perfect, or flawless, or degrading, or unhygienic or unclean or frightening or confining.

Femininity is strong, is flawed, is soft, is beautiful, is ugly, is everything, is hope, is equal, is valid, is natural, is empowering, is comfortable, is freeing.

The young boy is told that pink is for girls, not for him. Dolls are for girls, not for him. Crying is for girls, not for him.

Disassociate.

The teen boy is told that pain is for girls, not for him. Feelings are for girls, not for him. Struggle is for girls, not for him.

“Man up.”

The man has had the feminine beaten out of him and can now only wonder why.

Let’s stop grinding out the femininity from the hearts of our men. They deserve freedom from the confinements of gender just like we all do, freedom to express whatever traits are natural to them, freedom to be exactly who they are supposed to be without anyone having a say other than themselves, freedom from repression, freedom from mental torture, freedom from the idea that their femininity is not okay.

It’s okay. You’re okay.

Let’s stop grinding that away.
